State Election
The Primary Election for State and Federal Offices is slated for August 18 and includes one Alaska Public Initiative ballot measure. The State of Alaska has an open primary system, and registered voters may vote for ONE candidate for each office on the Primary Election ballot (link to District 37 ballot) The top 4 vote earners will be listed on the November 3 General Election Ranked-Choice Ballot, where voters may rank the candidates in order of preference 1-4 or just vote for one or rank fewer than 4 candidates.
Ballot Measures
The three properly filed ballot measures for this election season are all concerning State elections:
- Ballot Measure 1 on the August 18 Primary Election Ballot is regarding Campaign Finance. The Governor vetoed HB16 that would have achieved the same objectives as Ballot Measure 1.
- Ballot Measure 2 on the November 3 General Election Ballot would repeal Ranked- Choice Voting, where a YES vote would repeal RCV and a NO vote would maintain the RCV process.
- Ballot Measure 3 also on the General Election would require proof of citizenship to vote in State elections.
A fourth potential ballot measure for 2026 if petitioners collect enough signatures by September 14 would regulate a natural medicine program.
